    • SMITTER — Mr. Fred Smitter, aged 84, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, February 16, 1997. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Esther; his children, Vera and Luke VanderMaas, Ray and Carole Smitter, and Betty and Gary High of Petosky; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his brothers, John Smitter and Clarence (Grace) Smitter; his sister, Shirley (Edward) Page; his sisters-in-law, Beatrice Smitter, Jeanette Howe, and Eleanor Bremer. Funeral Services including Committal will be held Wednesday 1 PM at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kent Fry officiating. Interment will take place at Fulton Street Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Third Reformed Church Sound System or Hospice of Greater Grand Rapids. Zaagman Memorial Chapter, 1865 Eastern Ave. SE.
