NECK CITY, Mo. — Laura Marie Lewis, age 45, of Neck City, Mo., passed away at 3:29 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at her home following several years of ill health. Laura was born Nov. 6, 1963, in Webb City, Mo., and had lived in Neck City all her life. She was employed in the insurance department of Leggett and Platt in Carthage, before becoming disabled. Laura was a member of the New Providence Baptist Church, north of Oronogo. Survivors include two sons, Josiah Lewis and his companion, Heather, Joplin, Mo., and Ethan Lewis, Neck City; one daughter, Hannah Wolf and husband, Keith, Carterville, Mo.; her parents, Dean and Daisy Herndon, Neck City; two brothers, Dean Herndon, Seligman, Mo., and David Herndon, Joplin; two sisters, Rosie Ford and Ramona Beaunoyer, both of Joplin; and three grandchildren, Talyn, Tate and Kaedyn. Laura was preceded in death by her father, Larry Cawyer; her dad, Lavon "Crack" McCracken; and a sister, Leanna Cawyer. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Friends Cemetery in Purcell, Mo., with Rev. Larry Shumaker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Memorial contributions are requested to the Lewis Family Fund in care of the mortuary. The family will be at the home in Neck City. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary, of Joplin.
