John Schoonmaker (1842-1927)
John Schoonmaker (1842-1927)
John Schoonmaker, a farmer, enlisted in the Union Army August 11, 1862. He joined Company E, 74th Illinois Infantry. Soon after the battle of Perryville he was discharged because of "hypertrophy of the heart." This was not enough to keep him from service, however, as on January 20, 1864 Schoonmaker again enlisted with Battery G 2nd Illinois Light Artillery. He served with Battery G through the duration of the war, mustering out as a private with the rest of the battery September 4, 1865 in Springfield, Illinois. Contributed to Findagrave.com by Patrick J DeGeorge on 16 Jan 2007, memorial 17503763.

Johnson, Harry E. (1899 - 1983) and Melvina (nee Huber) (1897 - 1958) Headstone
Johnson, Harry E. (1899 - 1983) and Melvina (nee Huber) (1897 - 1958) Headstone
Status: Located; George Washington Court Mausoleum, Building Z, Row 6

Well, if you knew Harry Johnson, you know he had a bit of a prickly disposition, almost arrogant and always correct regardless of facts, retorting once how the Sun revolved the Earth.... this may explain why Vines birth year is off a year (her twin, Rowena, buried in this same complex, has the correct date, 1897) and her middle initial is shown as "A" rather than the correct "J".

Johnston, Mary Ann (Curry) (1833-1913) Death Certificate
Johnston, Mary Ann (Curry) (1833-1913) Death Certificate
The housewife and widow Mary Ann Johnston, born 30 Mar 1833 in Monroe County, Missouri to J???? Curry, died 13 Oct 1913 in Clay Township,Monroe County. Although the death certificate says she was buried 14 Oct 1913 in “Fair View” cemetery, I don't think that is correct. In checking Monroe County, Missouri MoGeb Website (http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~momonroe/),Mary Ann and her husband, Washington, were found buried in “Weatherford Cemetery” 9 miles north of Madison. This small cemetery has just 9 internments listed. See the description of the cemetery for more information.
